Rule 2 - The Scout Group
Rule 2.7 | Appointment of Lay Members in the Scout Group |
Rule 2.7.1 |
Group Lay Members are appointed by the following procedures: (a) The Group President and the Group Chairman A Group may have a Group President and together with the Chairman are nominated by the Group Scout Leader and their appointments are confirmed by the Group Council at its Annual General Meeting. (b) The Group Secretary and the Group Treasurer The Group Secretary and the Group Treasurer are nominated by the Group Scout Leader and appointed by the Group Council at its Annual General Meeting. (c) Other Lay Members Other Lay Members as may be required may be appointed by the Group Council if it so wishes, subject to the approval of the Group Scout Leader. |

Limitation of Group Lay Member Appointments The offices of the Group President, the Group Chairman, the Group Secretary and the Group Treasurer shall not be combined and shall not be held by a Warranted Leader in the same Group. |
Rule 2.7.3 |
Age Limits The minimum age for the appointment of Lay Members in a Group is eighteen and there is no retirement age. |
Rule 2.7.4 |
Records of Group Lay Member Appointments The Group Scout Leader shall furnish relevant information of the Lay Members of the Group to the Association Headquarters within thirty days of the appointment with copies to the District Commissioner and the Regional Commissioner. |
Rule 2.7.5 |
Termination of Group Lay Member Appointments The appointment of a Group Lay Member may be terminated by: (a) the resignation of the holder; (b) the holder acquiescing when notified that a recommendation is to be made for the termination of his appointment by the Group Council; (c) the expiry of the period of appointment; (d) confirmation by the Chief Commissioner of the termination of the appointment following suspension under 1.3.7; (e) the Chief Commissioner's direction. |
