Hong Kong Scout Archives

Introduction

The Hong Kong Scout Archives (Scout Archives), located on the 9th floor of the Hong Kong Scout Centre, commenced operations in April 2007. Its opening ceremony was held on December 8 of the same year, presided over by the then Chief Commissioner, Mr. CHAN Kit-chu, with the then Assistant Chief Commissioner (Information Technology and Support), serving as the person-in-charge of the Scout Archives.

The Scout Archives centrally and properly collects and preserves historical records, manuscripts, photographs, and other materials related to Hong Kong Scouting. It plans to provide archives access service to Scout members and individuals in need for research purposes.

On June 1, 2023, the Association appointed Mr. NG Ah Ming as the Association Archivist to organize a Scout Archives Working Group. The Group began the work of sorting the existing inventory of historical records and manuscripts, collecting and appraising archives of historical value, and taking charge of their acquisition, arrangement, processing, and shelving.

The Scout Archives introduces Scout members to the fundamental knowledge of archives management and shares updates on related work. It aims to promote the history and culture of the Association, permanently preserve our collective memories, and thereby enhance public understanding of the Association's history, development, and contributions.
