Wood Badge Training is a world recognized training scheme for Scout Leaders. Wood Badge is an insignia to identify that the holder has completed the strict Scout Leader Training, and is an elite leader who is trained to bring better Scouting to the Scouts.
Wood Badge Training comprises of "Sectional" and "Non-Sectional" Training Schemes. "Sectional Leaders Wood Badge Training Scheme" is suitable for Sectional Leaders such as Assistant Sectional Scout Leaders and Sectional Scout Leaders, whereas "Non-Sectional Leaders Wood Badge Training Scheme" is suitable for Non-Sectional Leaders, Group Scout Leaders, Commissioners and Lay Members.
Furthermore, a variety of over 30 skill courses, such as Pioneering Course, Expedition Assessor Course, Orienteering Course, Knotting Course, Action-centred Leadership Course and Decision Making & Strategic Planning Course, etc are designed for adult leaders with a view to enhance their scoutcraft and management skills and knowledge.
Wood Badge Training taking the form of a series of training courses comprises both theories and practices. Through diversified lectures and activities, like leadership training, camping, hiking, mapping, pioneering and light weight cooking, it assists to enhance leaders' competency in organizing, problem-solving, creativity, communication and presentation. The Training Branch is also responsible for arranging scout leaders to participate in overseas training with a view to broaden their horizons.
Duration of training varies for different training courses. Normally, the most basic one lasts for about 10 hours, and the more advanced one may last for 5 to 6 days.
Concerning the course fee, it costs approximately HK$1,000 for completing the whole series of Training.

Led by the Assistant Chief Commissioner (Training), the Hong Kong Training Team comprises of over two hundred of Leader Trainers, Assistant Leader Trainers and Trainers. It is responsible for the planning, organizing, and executing of all matters related to Leader Training. To ensure efficient and effective running of training courses and activities, Training Team members are assigned to work in the Regional sub-teams led by the Regional Training Commissioners.

In addition to organizing training courses and activities, the Training Branch also operates a Scout Library. The library has a wide collection of books which can be used by leaders for reference purposes.
With effective from 1 September 2009, the Scout Library provides appointment service for Scout Leaders to read, borrow and search Scouting information outside the following opening hours. Any interested parties please contact the volunteers of the Library to make a reservation. The details are as follows:
